Portia Lee James DeGeneres, who is professionally known by the pseudonym Portia de Rossi, is a well-known model from the United States acting, actress and philanthropist. The name she changed was legally registered in the year fifteen, choosing the name 'Portia' from the Shakespearean play 'The Merchant of Venice'. She then adopted the Italian name 'de Rossi' which she considered to be attractive. Portia claims that she's done the best thing that she's done. The struggle she had with her sexuality spurred her to change her name. Her career in the film industry began when she starred in the romantic comedy film 'Sirens.' She starred alongside Hugh Grant. Portia was a part of a number of American TV films, including 'Too Something', 'Nick Freno's Licensed Teacher and Arrested Development", and Better Off Ted.
